Whenever you are given a research project to work on, the first thing you need to do is to write a research project proposal. The problem of what to write about will not be discussed in this article; however, we will focus on the issue of how to organize your proposal, i.e. on the research proposal format.
Here, you will be told about some common guidelines as to your research proposal format. However, you should keep in mind that each new research proposal format is unique, since it depends on your teacher’s requirements and peculiarity of the subject under consideration. So, you will have to adjust these research proposal format rules to your own situation:
Research proposal format guideline № 1: you need to start your paper by creating a research paper abstract. This is a short summary of your research proposal (no more than 250 words).
Research proposal format guideline № 2: you have to follow this plan:
- short introduction section;
- full thesis statement with all necessary explanations;
- paragraphs with a description of your research procedure and methodology;
- short conclusion.
Research proposal format guideline № 3: this paper should be organized according to MLA/APA research proposal formats or other writing styles. This means you need to include full information about yourself in the beginning of your paper and place a page header at the upper right side of each sheet of paper.
If you follow all these research proposal format’s guidelines, your piece of writing will be organized and structured, thus more clear and convincing for your examiners.
However, do not relax too much - you will have to continue working on your research paper if this piece is approved by your committee.
